FAQ

Markets we serve

Learn how Zantek helps support your business through managed IT, cybersecurity, and much more.

What is a Managed Service Provider (MSP)?

An MSP is an outsourced IT partner that proactively manages, monitors, secures, and supports your technology environment for a predictable monthly fee.

How is an MSP different from “break/fix” IT support?

Break/fix IT support reacts to problems after they occur. An MSP uses proactive monitoring, patch management, security controls, and lifecycle planning to prevent downtime and reduce risk. This leads to more predictable IT budgeting and prevents large, unexpected expenses.

How is pricing structured?

Most MSPs use a per-user or per-device monthly recurring fee model. Zantek understands that every business is unique and we take a different approach then most competitors. Instead of placing your business into a one-size-fits-all box, Zantek takes the time to learn about your unique requirements and build a box around your needs.

Can you work alongside internal IT staff?

Yes, we offer options to supplement existing internal IT staff.

How does working with Zantek improve my businesses IT management continuity?

Working with a reliable and long-term provider like Zantek for IT management ensures your systems, knowledge, processes and oversight remain stable. By relying on internal IT departments your business faces increased risk caused by staff turnover, growth, incidents, or vendor changes.

Our team at Zantek ensures that your technology, data, and systems are a process-driven operational discipline that is sturdy enough to withstand change over time.

Is it difficult to transition from my existing provider to Zantek?

Historically, changing IT providers has been no small feat. Zantek uses a tried and tested onboarding approach to ensure a smooth transition with minimal efforts from you.

Our typical onboarding will include network documentation, a security baseline review, backup validation, agent deployment, and licensing management which will all be completed with minimal hassle. Our goal is to handle your IT from the start and make it easy for you to focus on what matters – growing your business.

What are some of the benefits often overlooked regarding working with an MSP like Zantek?

  • Reduced Key-Person Risk – Eliminates dependency on a single internal IT employee, department, or contractor.
  • Documentation – Structured network documentation and credential management improve long-term stability.
  • Vendor Leverage – MSPs escalate issues faster with vendors and cloud providers due to established relationships and partnership channels.
  • Efficiency – Reduced pricing, licensing optimization, expert advice, and lifecycle planning reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Audit & Insurance Readiness – Stronger documentation and security controls support cyber insurance and compliance reviews.
  • Operational Predictability – Standardized processes reduce variability in support outcomes and incident response.
  • Strategic Planning – Regular reviews enforce roadmap planning instead of reactive spending.

With the rapid speed of change in technology, what aspects of cybersecurity are most often overlooked?

The three most overlooked aspects of cybersecurity we come across are:

  1. Employee Awareness & Training
  2. Access Management
  3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

1. With all the cybersecurity tools and policies in place for protecting organizations today, human error remains the largest risk for IT systems. Phishing and social engineering directed at human error are the most effective tools for cybercriminals to gain access to your network and assets. To combat this, we recommend a comprehensive employee cybersecurity awareness/training program along with simulated test campaigns. This program ensures employees are properly equipped with the knowledge and tools to keep your organization protected. Without preventative knowledge from staff, one simple click can be catastrophic to the business.

2. Access Management ensures that only the right people have the right level of access to systems, applications, and data. Poor access control is one of the most overlooked cybersecurity weaknesses. Access management ensures that only the right people have access to sensitive information. Lack of proper segmentation and access control can result in sensitive data landing in the wrong hands.

3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) across applications and platforms is no longer a luxury but a necessity. MFA adds an extra layer of security beyond passwords to block unauthorized access even when credentials are stolen. Passwords have become progressively easier for cybercriminals to crack with advanced tools. Without MFA being enabled across platforms, it no longer is a matter of if a breach will occur, but when.

Can you support remote or hybrid employees?

Yes, remote and hybrid work has become commonplace with many of our customers. Remote work presents its own unique set of considerations and challenges. Our team uses a toolset that is designed to provide cybersecurity protection and IT support from wherever you work. Whether you require the ability to securely connect to office resources or want to ensure your team is protected while working remotely, we have you covered.

Will we have a dedicated technician or point of contact?

Our team provides Managed Services customers with a few points of contact depending on your needs in each situation. For technical support, we have a help desk that you can call or email to receive support for routine issues. Additionally, each customer under an agreement will have a dedicated senior network technician to provide strategic guidance and support for escalated issues.

For product and subscription requests, you will have a dedicated account manager that can assist you with recommendations and subscription management.

How do you keep us informed about our IT environment and what you’re doing for us?

All the work we do for our clients is managed and recorded by our ticketing system. The system keeps track of all the work we do related to your environment and the time spent on each task.

Beyond this, we will meet with you for an IT review at a predetermined cadence, depending on your preference. The purpose of the IT review is to give you a summary of the progress made on projects, closed/open tickets, and other initiatives completed in the period. We also use this opportunity to provide strategic guidance with recommendations for future improvements. This ensures that your organization is always kept in the loop on completed IT projects and budgeted considerations for the future.
